About the condition

Vestibular rehabilitation treats dizziness and balance problems that come from the inner ear and the balance system: vertigo, general dizziness, benign positional vertigo (BPPV), and unsteadiness on your feet.

These problems are very treatable more often than people expect. The right assessment identifies the cause, and specific exercises retrain the balance system until the symptoms settle.

How we treat it

  • A focused assessment of your balance system, eye movements and what triggers the dizziness
  • Repositioning maneuvers for benign positional vertigo (BPPV)
  • Gaze-stability and habituation exercises to reduce the dizziness
  • Balance and gait training to bring back steadiness and confidence
  • Fall-prevention strategies for anyone at risk
  • A graded home program to keep progressing safely

What the sessions look like

First we identify which kind of dizziness you have, because not all vertigo is the same.

Some types, BPPV in particular, can improve remarkably quickly with the right maneuver.

Others improve steadily as the balance system re-adapts through exercise.

Common questions

The dizziness hits when I turn over in bed. Can you help?

That pattern is typical of BPPV, which usually responds very well to specific repositioning maneuvers done during the session.

I feel unsteady and afraid of falling. Is that treatable?

Yes. Balance and gait training rebuild both steadiness and confidence, and we add fall-prevention strategies suited to you.
